a tribute to the outpost of our culture
Contemporary multidisciplinary artist BJ Choudrē blends textiles with objects creating installations that explore the relationship between the masculine and the feminine. As disparate elements become clarified through personal and collective voices which are then distilled into ‘Sculptural Chapters’ that leave tributes to the outposts of our culture.
The SanityRag series set out to challenge the attitudes, shame and the taboo topic of menstruation within the South Asian community; from the perspective of a British Asian male. SanityRag questions and seeks understanding from other communities. This piece opens discussions on personal, economic, political, and social equality, addressing fundamental questions about gender roles in society, the world and beyond.
